I'm trying to switch the coaxial cables circled in red (it's cable internet). How do I unplug the big connector?

Any safety precautions that I should know of? Should I put on silicone grease when connecting the cables?

The green circle is a wire that looks like a ground wire or something its hooked on to a metal bolt.

I don't know what the blue wire is. Might be a regular telephone line.

It's threaded... righty tighty lefty loosey

The part that is clamped to the wall is most likely a female to female connector.

Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

What are you trying to switch the coaxial cables with? The big connector has a hex nut. Rotate it counterclockwise (as viewed when facing it from the right of the photo) to unscrew it, then pull it out.

What safety issue are you concerned about?

The blue wire in your photo appears to be cut, in which case it is not doing anything.

I'm swapping the two circled coaxial cables.

I wanted to make sure that there's no dangerous electricity involved.

No worries, it's low voltage.

Where is the white wire circled connected to? It to the top left you might have an issue.
What are you trying to accomplish by switching the two?

The top left is a different cable.

The circled white wire goes to a different spot in our house. I can't physically follow the wire because it goes in the wall but I'm 99% certain since it's the only other coaxial cable in our house.

I'm moving the modem/router.

Sounds right then. Wanted to make sure it didn't go to the cable at the top left. Could not tell from the picture.
If these cables are outside then silicone would be a good idea.

I want to install wired outdoor security cameras.
My cable modem is in the back of my house. My options are to run and ethernet wire from the back to the front and create a new ethernet plug where I can connect the camera into, or run the ethernet wire from the camera to the back where my modem is.

Which would be best? Are there other options?

Thanks!

It's not clear the difference between your options.

Either or, but depending where the cameras are, I would make a run and put in a switch nearby.

One camera outside in front, about as high as second floor so I can see front porch and more. Other camera outside on back of house. The modem is basically on opposite wall of where the back camera would so that should be easy.

Type of system - I'm not an expert. I just want them connected to a hard drive so I can have local footage. I guess it can be POE, I would need to Google reviews unless you can recommend something.

Thank you

It makes sense that whatever system you get, will be placed near your modem. So you will need to run your wire from the front camera to the back regardless. There is no benefit of running the wire to an "ethernet plug" in the front. It just adds more work. Run the wire straight to the camera.

You can't just connect the cameras to a hard drive. You need some sort of NVR (network video recorder). It can either be a dedicated piece of hardware (they usually come with poe built in) or software running on a computer.

Do you already have the cameras?

No, I do not have the cameras yet. Any recommendations would be great. Yes, I would get the NVR.

Trying to hang up a light. I just want to make sure I'm doing it correct so far.

What it's supposed to look like

Instructions it came with

All the parts

Put together all the branches.

Each branch has a brown and blue wire. I twisted all the brown to brown and blue to blue together with the adjacent branches.

Now I'm having trouble connecting all 9 wires to one connector. It's too thick

You might just have to buy a bigger wire nut.

And don't you need to attach the black and a white wire?

I attached the wire. It's the 9th one
I used zip ties to keep it together

Making progress :) now I have to attach it to the ceiling

Love the fixture. Where did you pick up such a fixture from?

 Looks great! Nice neat wiring.
