Base off a quick glance at price and reviews, the first one seems like a no brainer.

3 standard kitchen outlets not working despite the two gfci outlets testing and working properly.

When i test the outlets with a multimeter it gets a low to no reading (4.6) when testing the hot and neutral, however when i test hot and ground it gets a full reading (120).

Solutions anyone?

My subzero ice maker stopped making ice last week. I turned it off and used a hair blower to melt excess ice. I turned it back on and nothing. Any ideas? Thanks.

Neutral wire at the outlet closest to the circuit breaker box or at the circuit breaker box or somewhere in between may be disconnected or broken.

Thanks! That is the solution to find the broken link of the neutral wire.

Testing wasn’t simple because neutral wire was testing good on line end of gfci outlet but only because it was the equivalent of a ground wire as it was dead.

Gfci outlet was burnt out on line end. Replaced it and all is now good.

Is it normal for a blackout to cause this?

Not going to work. You need the springs pressed for it to stay up, it likely will damage your ceiling as well.

Can the spring be replaced with something to keep it up?

No.
Your first photo with a V spring has a screw-in connector that goes where a bulb would go inside a recessed can. Alternatively, some cans have a connector that would mate with half of the orange connector shown in the photo so that you don't use the screw in connector. Either way, there's line voltage, so to keep it legal and safe it needs to be inside a recessed can. In the second photo showing the clip in model, the connector on the right is a low voltage connector. These lights usually come with a small junction box that goes inside the ceiling within a few inches of the light and includes the transformer.
(Here's my experience when installing something like the latter, https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07ZZ1VDS5/ . The junction box was made of a flimsy metal that easily deformed when connecting armored cable to it, whether I used the snap in connector or the screw on connector. Therefore, non metallic cable would be more suitable, where allowed. The junction box only included two knockouts for cables, so for the installation I was doing with over a dozen of them, I had to conjure up a route that would allow them to all be daisy chained. I used snap on connectors instead of the wire nuts included in the kit.)

You can use duplex connectors.

I had considered using them. However, the space inside the junction box is very small. Even if I could physically cram in another pair (in my case, trio, as I was using 12/2 MC with an insulated 12 AWG ground) of wires, the overcrowding would violate the code.

For prior recessed lighting installations, I had bought traditional cans. About a year ago was the first and only time I ever bought that new type of lighting. That Amazon link is the product I actually bought (during a lightning deal) and installed. Because it was the only time I ever bought that type of lighting, I have nothing else to compare it to, so it's not meaningful if I tell you I liked or disliked that company. I have no idea if other companies' products fare better regarding the concerns I mentioned.

I had previously Installed 30-40 of these.
At first I didn't know better and was buying an 8 pack from Lowes at 119$ and give or take same price at HD(rather a 6pack, Lowes just added 2 more to the box for free.)

Now I just bought another 6 pack from amazon for a fraction the price and they worked like a charm and seem to be great, the reviews seem authentic and greatly priced.

Shows a 5 year warranty so let's hope they actually last for quite some time.
Though my old cans were 6inch + so I had to use a goof ring to put around my lights to keep it in the ceiling.
Now it was an off color ,but when the light is in its not noticable. Or just paint then over the color of the ceiling.
Paid around $8 for a pack of 5.(goof rings) will post a link.
Though I know they make custom sizes and all, but they wanted an arm and a leg for that. ( Yes I won't lie that I took a razor blade and had to score the inside for about 1 min to shave away some of the plastic so my lights would fit.

 Here's a link to both.

If someone has a link or a store that has these goof rings sold at a reasonable price I would buy a bunch, meaning different sizes.

1 4 6 12 16 pack.. many colors to choose from, 4 or 6 inch..

I bought these and these. Choose what's best for your install.

Goof rings.

I'm replacing an oven with a new appliance, the oven had a 4 prong range cord (240v), while the new one uses only 3 prongs.
It seems that they used 2 different types of receptacles and if I can help I would like not to have to switch it.
My question is, can I buy a 4 prong cord and just not use the neutral wire?
