Global Entry includes PreCheck. I don't see why you would get it, unless maybe the screening isn't as harsh.

If you already got Global Entry your not eligible for this benefit, it's either one or the other.

Explain, please.  I just applied for GE.  Hopefully, everything will be approved before our trip.  Once approved, does that mean I can go to the Precheck line? 

Or do I first need to apply, and get approved for Precheck (after being approved for GE)?

You get a kown traveller # and when that's on your reservation u get precheck on the boarding pass
