They should just have private bussing, and tack it on to the tuition.
Doesn't a big chunk of my property tax go towards busing already?

No your boe tax goes to the public schools and to special education (for the frum community too)

The special ed budget is out of control. Back in the day virtually noone was "special ed".  I'm not sure how much of it is actually necessary, and how much is just due to lack of discipline. Someone should look into this.

My wife is a special ed teacher and FWIU a large portion is due to lack of discipline.

You hit the nail on the head.  Tuition at Schi is $97,000 paid for by the BOE  There are 220 kids in Schi so that means 21 Million of the budget goes there (before looking at the other services like speech, OT etc and other programs that get special ed funding.)

None of it is paid for by the Feds (title 1)?

And then schi goes and makes a dinner
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Nope.  If you look carefully the dinner is for Camp Schi.  They don't make a dinner for Schi.

We have to defrentiate between schi, which is obviously for special need children, and the rest of the craputult, tok, tender touch etc cartel.

Not that schi should get a free pass to tax the community into abject poverty, just that is has to be dealt with separately.

There is a much bigger responsibility on the community to spend huge amounts of money to help children who are normal but have issues or learning disabilities than to help "real special ed kids"

The existing teachers and rebbeim should have to be mechanech not only the perfect children.
The ones with behavior and learning issues used to be part of the class when I was growing up. - For some reason it wasn't necessary to run parallel classrooms, and pay an army of special ed teachers, and finance "teaching businesses" on the taxpayers backs.

We simply CANNOT afford it.

that doesn't mean it was the right thing it's just the way it was done, I'm sure they struggled to keep up and I'm sure some of them couldn't keep up

Easy for you to say.

Unfortunately some of them were not prepared properly for life.

How much would it cost?

Currently I pay for Sunday bussing $100 a year.

Not trying to be insensitive or anything. Plenty of family members benefit from the special ed cartel. - as students and teachers.
I'm just saying that the tax payers cannot fund it any longer.

Curious what the cost per $100k home value special ed for yeshivas is in lakewood. Do you have any data quantifying the cost?

According to the letter send by the board president to the State, the district gets 24.7 million in Federal aid, and 13 million goes to private schools.

In the 2015-16 school year there are also 683 Hispanic children in District Special Ed programs...
