According to the letter send by the board president to the State, the district gets 24.7 million in Federal aid, and 13 million goes to private schools.

In the 2015-16 school year there are also 683 Hispanic children in District Special Ed programs...

Exactly. There arn't 683 special children. We're being scammed

They have plenty of ESL, but I doubt that's considered special education.

Wouldn't it be funny if the accountant mixed up the "hispanic" and "white" columns???

Wouldn't be surprised if their accountants mixed all the columns up.

I love how the council acknowledges the "revenue problem" but only lists one side of it (aid stagnation) while ignoring the other (municipal revenue stagnation). There obviously will be a lag between population growth and municipal revenue growth, but lakewood isn't only growing organically. I can't imagine that property taxes stay at the same (relatively) low levels for much longer, given that property values are increasing rather quickly.

Rising property values do not mean a higher tax levy. The way it works is that a total tax levy is passed which is then divided between the properties.

Doesn't automatically. But typically does in practice, at least over time.

So of course it'll all work out in the end.

The only question is which askanim will pat themselves on the back the most for this.

Why are you assuming it will work out? Very likely the ruling won't be in their favor

Meh - they'll get an injunction to at least hold off until the police feel they can reasonably assure peoples safety.

Which is appropriate. And honestly given that the state monitor signed an agreement to maintain courtesy busing for a year, I'm not sure why he's legally allowed to just walk away from it

I dont understand why lawson cant just get up and say that is unsafe and therefore mandatory.  - End of story.

He may need to put together a fancy report school by school but at the end of the day it shouldnt be a big deal in this town.

And that (among many other reasons) is why there never was (and never will be) any chance of this actually happening Feb 26th. It was all a ploy by the monitor which was soundly rejected and either he'll give in willingly or be forced by a judge or superior to give in.

He did submit a letter to the state telling them that he's not equipped to deal with it.

There's no question that it'll be resolved the only question is how and in what way.

Just got a letter that there's no more courtesy bussing etc.

If you live across a big highway like central ave or Madison are you still covered even less than two miles?

Dude, my kids in primary! He's supposed to walk 1.5 miles to school and back along and across central and and Madison.
You probably don't realize how pathetic this is.
