Why didn't they put the bussing in the budget?
I know its to late now but I've yet to hear a plausible explanation or apology.

The budget that they put out has nothing to do with how much mony is left.

They lost the gamble when the state onitor approved the budget without courtesy bussing.

Suddenly the school heads got together and agreed to staggering times (which they always refused to do) but it's to little to late...

Basically no school for two days. Many parents wouldn't send their kids. The one's that do come would stagger in probably as late as 12; there would b'etzem be no point in teaching anything.

Don't see the point. It will only mess up the whole day! The township officials know that when there is no busing the town is a mess.

IINM, if you have to cross a "major" street, you still get free bussing.

If so, I am very curious to know the actual numbers being affected (and therefore the actual dollar amount being saved).

The largest school (Cheder) and another large school (Orchos Chaim) seemingly would have this exemption applied to them.

What about Toras Aron, where many boys need to cross the 9, and/or Central. There are other schools also...

My main point (or question) - has anyone run the hard numbers to get an actual dollar amount saved? It seems to my uninformed basic estimation, that the dollar amount would be minimal (relative to the numbers being thrown around now).

Crossing a major road is part of courtesy busing and therefore those who live within 2.5 miles across any road even major well not get busing
