Booking A Hotel Reservation Out Of My SPG Account For Someone Else

I believe you have to show ID at check in, how can I make a reservation for a friend of mine out of my account, and he should be able to check it showing HIS ID?

I've done it.

call up to make the reservation. I said straight out I'm booking the rooms for my bro in law as a gift. they added his name without any problems.

Can I transfer SPG points from A Canadian account to an American account? Meaning, will I be able to change the address to my US address?

IINM if the account holder isn't the one staying at the hotel then it won't count towards your status, if that's correct then make sure that your name is also on the reservation.

I always thought as long as the reservation is under your name that was enough, the fact that guest #2 did the check in doesn't mean that you, guest #1 is not coming, and therefore should count towards status.
