I got an email this morning that SwiftKey is now completely free.

This keyboard is a must for anyone with Android os. It is the number 1 keyboard...

Go to your Google play store to download.

People who paid for it get to download the premier pack of 10 premium themes for free a $4.99 value, so they are actually giving you back your money + $1

Not really. The premium stuff is not worth much

It wasn't real value to begin with, only what they determined you would be willing to pay for it. they valued the app at $3.99 now they devalued it and gave you instead themes worth $4.99 (again, the value is what they determine it to be)

I for one am a paid user but I did not shell out a cent for it (Amazon free app of the day) so I'm looking at this like pure profit lol :D
I have a very hard time paying for apps if I can get it for free via play store credits or Amazon coins

Must update to latest version. Once you do so you will get an option to go into the store. There it will allow you to download themes.

FYI, themes are sickkkk

The Amazon app store doesn't have the update yet, so I went into Play Store, uninstalled SwiftKey, installed it again, signed in and it recognized me as paid user!

Swype is so much better on so many levels. Just the shortcuts alone make it infinitely more efficient than SwiftKey.

This had been discussed in the Android app thread if I'm not mistaken, it really boils down to personal preference. I really like SwiftKey and yes I do own swype (free) but no matter how many times I try swype I always go back to SwiftKey. I find it so much easier to use among other things.

Just downloaded it. Hate how the emotions don't show on the keyboard the way they really are.  Any way to change that?

They have emoji now, but that's only available on devices running Android 4.1 or above.
Alternatively, on lots of phones messaging apps you can press menu and choose insert smiley, that will pop up the normal colored smiley list.
In other messaging apps (like whatsapp) just use their own emoji
