WOw... I don't usually get involved in these discussions but had to chime in here...
I actually got the same psak from Reb Dovid Feinstein not too long ago.

He qualifies as living afaik...

Frankly, this has become so common, particularly in NYC, that most people seeing an orthodox jew walk in would not jump to the conclusion that the establishment is certified kosher.

Have received meals at a variety of restaurants; hotels; offices and private clubs in the city catered by Le Merais, Abigails, Prime Grill, RAM caterers, Park East caterers and others. RAM seems to do the best job preparing meals that actually reheat well, match the menu at the event and taste good. Others will send you gigantic portions of over-cooked or bland food to match a top-rate tasting menu.
