I just downloaded this app, and am a prime member.  Has anyone succesfully downloaded it and streamed music similar to pandora?  I can't find the option to stream for free.

Works fine for me. Did you log in with your prime account? Maybe try downloading a song first from amazon.

For some reason can't access from my phone.. on a computer works fine, but I think Pandora is still a better product even with the ads... But if they can get a similar to Pandora like function that it automatically recognizes a song/band and plays similar music I would be more interested thanks to the no-ads.

Really? I think this will be much better than pandora. Yes, pandora's radio stations are great for discovering new music that's similar to your taste, but I find pandora has a limited library. Another huge advantage is that with amazon prime you can choose the song you want to listen to, which is more valuable to me than discovering new music.
ETA: prime also has playlists broken down by genre, mood and other categories.

Did you try downloading the amazon prime music player and not the original amazon music player?

I'm pretty sure it's the same play store listing.

Can you check what version you have? And which version Android are you running? Play store says I'm all updated running version 3.0.6 but I'm choshesh that its an older version and the new ones aren't compatible with gingerbread

Pandora has about 57 million more songs than amazon, due to them not signing an agreement with Universal and other labels.  But I do hear you about picking specific songs, yet that's the reason why I like Pandora, its like shuffling a playlist with only songs similar to your genre/band/song.

Oh, guess they're all songs that don't match my taste ;)

The app itself says that. Or that's the title in the play store?
In the app, in the settings it should say build which is the app version, what's those numbers?
