No one is saying that all Modox 12 year olds would say such jokes on national TV.
But one of the reasons we stay away from the secular culture, is to avoid this result.
I'm much more appalled at the father and his smiles - it makes me sick to the stomach.
And everyone on this forum knows that that father/son duo could have only come from the Modox community. Not from any other. (Besides for 1 chassidic sect, but I don't want to stir up controversy).
I hope that family gets thrown out of their shul.
The only difference between low class people in the modox world and low class people in the frummer worlds is that the ones from the modox world are more public about it while the ones from the frum world are generally more hidden. That's about it.
Yes, there are pros to keeping kids sheltered to a degree. The problem is we're so focused on keeping kids sheltered and keeping the "bad" out that no one is focusing on working on the good.
Frankly it's silly to sit here saying look what happens when you're Modern Orthodox. The same way it's not right when others say "Look what happens when you're religious' towards the many inappropriate things that Yeshivish and Chassidish people do.
You can raise good kids anywhere. And just because you live in the modern world doesn't mean they'll come out bad. And just because you live in a more sheltered world does not mean they will come out good.
I'd be sad to see any kid making such jokes. He's too young, and they're too inappropriate.
And yes, it's sad. Because we hope Jewish people hold themselves to a higher standard. But we both know that isn't always the case. Not in the Modern Orthodox world and not in the more sheltered communities (Yeshivish, Chassidish etc).
