Why are you arguing with the idea that a zed is the letz type rasha?
I recall seeing this on many occasions in the Mefarshim.

I don't think your understanding what I'm saying. I'm (the mefarshim) saying that the exact definition of zed is rasha, but if it meant rasha, and rasha meant zed, then why would there be 2 words? The answer is that zed is a rasha who's rishus stems from his being a letz. And that's why the reashaim that were making letzanus of David were called zedim.

IIRC, this past chanuka someone I know (big gevir) was by R chaim Kanievski. And he (r chaim) told him this that zed was a letz. And he said that risha just toved, oyvecha just yekareisu, but "vahazedim" the latzanim - mehairah se'ake useshaber usemager vesachnia. Some how he tied that into zeidim beyad oskei sorasecha, and explained how esek hatorah is the opposite of a letz, I can't remember the vart.
