I Lost 80k UR Points By Closing My Ink Account

Just logged into my UR account to find nothing there.

I closed my ink account a month ago via SM to avoid the AF.

Any chance I can can get it back?

I do have another Ink account associated with another online account.

I would call up see what they can do....

Tell them you meant to transfer it to your other ink or ajy ultimate rewards account...

I had that happen, but I realized the same day that I lost the points. I called them up and they re-instated the card, transferred the points to another UR earning card and then closed the account again.

Yup. For example the OP has another Ink card where he should have transferred to points to and then cancel. If you don't have any other Ultimate Rewards account you either need to open another card first or transfer them out completely to one of the airline or hotel programs.

Points get lost when you close the card. Airline miles don't get lost. ( ba avios, delta, etc)

When you cancel by phone, the reps sometimes warn you... Too bad they don't by sm
