No issue whatsoever. Everyone stays at the adjacent hotels and I would think that the AC is much safer

I used to go there to study and shmooze with all the journalists there but never stayed overnight. Have a feeling it might be a bit overrated

It's an Arab neighborhood. Jews walk around there all the time without incident but some would feel uncomfortable and the risk is obviously greater than a Jewish neighborhood.
