American Airlines, announced a series of changes to its frequent-flier program, including new fees and higher mileage requirements for upgrades and free tickets.

This is the latest trend in the aviation industry, but who would have thought AA would be a trend setter...

It stinks, but as ticket prices rise it's only natural for mileage requirements to go up as well.
I do prefer this to $$$$ fuel surcharges on award tickets.
