Warning! US Airways Starnet Blocking
« on: November 26, 2010, 12:59:40 AM »
Title says it all, US seems to be introducing this dreaded practice. Good news is, United seems to be coming around. http://boardingarea.com/blogs/viewfromthewing/2010/11/16/us-airways-and-starnet-blocking-is-us-airways-preventing-members-from-booking-award-seats-that-lufthansa-is-offering/
I didn't notice this info anywhere here but if it is please merge.

It does say it can be done manually. I think we can be creative.
Although Dan's gonna love this, another bullet in his arsenal against USless ;)

Being that you can buy them at such a cheap rate most of the year it isn't as bad.
First check to see if there is availability, put it on hold and then buy the miles.
No risk involved....

I dont think US lets you put reservations on hold but i may be wrong.
Its bad for people who already have US miles(all the people who did the grand slam promo) and now its harder to find availability to take advantage of there generous routing rules like dan did last year

I am sorry, but you guys are wrong. US does not have a star blocking at all. Lufthansa might block certain flights from booking with star alliance miles, especially US Air since they are floding the market. But I also had problems with aeroplan, they could not book a LH flight, even if ANA showed it avail. Sometimes its just an IT problem. So everybody take a chillpill and sleep well on shabbes ;-)
