Help!!! Stranded family and luggage
« on: June 23, 2014, 03:30:44 PM »
The short story is that my mother and sons were taking a flight an air tran to atlanta and from there connecting to another air tran flight to boston.  From there they are supposed to continue on air France to tlv.  Air tran was delayed and they got to atlanta late and missed their flight.  Flying blue in atl rerouted them to a new flight to tlv from atl which is great but somehow even though they missed the connection their luggage didn't and is sitting in boston.

Obviously this is much more complicated because it is two separate itineraries. Any suggestions what to do with this lost luggage in boston?

Firstly, were the bags checked all the way through to TLV or only to Boston?

Only to bos.
Air tran didn't even know about the next leg.  We would be thrilled if they would just send it to tlv.  We are hoping someone from air tran could bring it over to air France in boston and they could send it but that sounds very unrealistic

That is one of the annoyances of booking two tickets.

Your best option right now would be to call airtran and see what they can do, or maybe find someone in atlanta who can take care of this for you

I know what can you do it was a special with air France only from boston.
The end of the story (I hope) is that they are not leaving tonight from atl till 10:30 and after spending an hour on the phone with AirTran I was able to accomplish more than my mother running around the airport in atl as she kept on switching from air France to air tran and they are able to send the luggage back to atl and she will get it tonight 2 hours before her flight.
I hope everything goes smoothly.
Oh they also refunded my points and gave me $100 vouchers - חצי נחמה

why did they rebook to TLV, if it was on a separate ticket?

There were two seperate tickets
1 jax - bos
2 bos - tlv

Air France in atl owed them nothing but did it anyway.  Apparently there is a strike tomorrow in partisan where they were supposed to stop over and therefore they could change without any fees.

Amazing siyata dishmaya.  Even ugly rain clouds can have a silver lining.  (but I'm sure your family would rather have no silver and no clouds!)

All's well that ends well....
The luggage came from boston with a big rush sticker and it was the first off the plane.
They checked in and are now sitting on the plane.
KLM told me they couldn't help with kosher because it is within 48 hours of the flight.
My mother just told me a stewardess came over to her to tell her that a kosher customer did not make it on the plane and would she like his food.

My mother laughs all the time at my ddf obsession although she is very happy to be benefitting from the free flight and the lounge passes today.  She told me she is going to write up a tr and "I can share it with Dan and the rest of my friends".

Living in ארץ ישראל she doesn't have a cell phone for the u.s. - another thing I have to take care of.  Any suggestions? Was thinking of lycamobile - best thing since sliced bread ;-)
Thankfully atl has wifi and she was instant messaging me all day and also sending pics
