Keyboard / Digital Piano Master Thread
« on: June 30, 2014, 09:54:37 PM »
I'm looking for a recommendation for a keyboard / digital piano. Something good quality that can be used for studio recordings and that sounds/plays like a real piano. Any recommendations? What's the price range for a good piece?
Thanks!

I recently got a new Korg keyboard and I'd love to add additional sounds, styles etc to it,
Does anyone here have them and can share them?
I'd very much appreciate it!

I'm looking to buy myself a keyboard for not more than $150-200.

All I plan on using it for is learning written pieces. MIDI would be very helpful, and a headphone jack is a must.

Any suggestions?

I just got a new keyboard for myself. I was looking into Yamaha brand.
They have the psr e series. E253,e353 and 453. These are the lower price range Yamahas. Ranging in price from about $120 to $250.
I ended up getting the ew400 which is the 76 key version of the e453 for about $100 more.
I'm very happy with mine.

Just nite that the lower series don't come with the adapter

Thanks for the info. Is 76 keys necessary? I'd be learning Shul music with it, nothing too crazy.

I would suggest to go down to a music store and try it out to see what you like.
I was in Sam ash and deciding between the e453 and ew400.
I personally liked the feel of the keys and the upgraded piano sound. I don't need 76 keys.
I think most basic songs don't need more than 61 keys.

I had the PSR 530 for years, great piece till it quit working. I now use the PSR E443 which is very decent, this model is now replaced online with the E453.

I have no clue. I just searched for keyboard on Amazon & I'm looking through results. These companies start at $100-130.

What about this one https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1192916-REG/yamaha_psr_e253_portable_keyboard_value.html? Very affordable entry level and good reviews.

Is Yamaha considered better than Casio ? This one is same price & a best seller

From digital piano review guide:

The CTK-2400 is comparable to our PSR-E253 in many ways. It has a lot of voices, similar learning functions, and it has a little screen that displays the same stuff as the E253.

But for some reason, the piano sounds don’t sound as good. The sound come across a lot brighter, and the sensitivity seems a little off. However, there’s one function that is super fun: you to make your own samples by pressing the sample record button and making any sound you want. It records it and plays it back for you in sync with your beat and automatically assigns it to each key so you can play it at different pitches.

Interesting. Thanks

No problem. IMO Yamaha has more authentic sound and is a little more advanced than the Casio.

I'm still trying to figure out how this went from 406 to 247 reviews.
Available same price from Amazon too - https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-PSRE253-61-Key-Portable-Keyboard/dp/B00UN8O5VO

4.3/5 star rating from 406 reviews.
