Are they upscale?

I stayed at the Holiday Inn while I was there.  The room was brand new in great condition.  It wasn't the most upscale place, but it wasn't a budget resort either-It was on the upscale side.
The kimpton is brand new, so I would not know.

Marriott, Comfort Suites are options as well.

There are dozens of Condominium complexes along Seven Mile Beach, they are very popular with repeat visitors to Cayman.

Condo's are for the most part cheaper then Hotels, come with Kitchens and have 2-3 bedrooms. You can find basic and luxury units.
Caydirect.com and VRBO.com are some good places to search for condo availability.

If you want a ride from/to the airport and/or an awesome tour guide, I cannot recommend more than Shirley Roulstone of Cayman Routes Island Tours. Very sweet, personable and knowledgeable. Extemely accomodating. Our kids loved her. They cried when theysaid goodbye. Clean van. Reasonable rates. She knows the island well.
Not looking for a tour guide, just need ride from the airport, should I bother with her or just take a cab

Have you stayed there recently? Any status recognition at the Ritz?

Yes was recently there.
Great resort, but with reward points you are in the resort tower. Which is a little walk to the beach.

Barely any status recognition. I went during a busy time.

So unless i can guarantee that I wont be in the resort tower, wouldnt it be better to go with Westin?
