It was a terrible thing, but you were forewarned. "Dan's Deals LLC assumes no liability for deals gone bad". I only deal with DDF'ers with a significant amount of posts. You can't trust someone who just joined.

Significant amount of posts doesn't necessarily mean much. Wait till u meet them at DO's & get to know them better.

This is true. I don't mean the quantity of posts per se; rather, I mean posts where you directly interact with them, and build a "DDF relationship online." The best, of course, is to meet people at DO's, and then you can really trust them. Also, use paypal and don't send the money to 'famiily and friends', and you can always file a dispute. Also, filing a police report often scares the other party into giving the item. I once needed to use this tactic on Cragislist and it worked masterfully--he sent the item!

Most people with significant post counts are invested in the community and would do right rather than lose their account.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

As a side note: It's pretty impressive that this is the 1st time I have heard of such an occurrence on DDF. Lest people forget, most DDF'ers are very honest! Don't let one person change your perception of the entire 'DDF community". One should be cautious, but for the most part most DDF'ers are trustworthy and upstanding people.

Can we delete the thread?  All I wanted was for a mod to intervene.

Lol. Has anyone helped you out? Also, was there a dispute between you and the buyer, or he just took the money and never sent the item?

Mod emailed him.  It's complicated,  two sides and I assume he has his.  After reading all the accusations on this topic, I am sorry I posted it. Just needed a mods help.  Maybe there should be a thread for that

Why should you delete it ? It's good for people to realize not to trust every random unit who wants to sell anything !!

I think most people realize that they're taking a risk sometimes. I've also learned that not all transactions will go smoothly necessarily just because someone has a high post count. But thank Gd I've never had a real issue yet with anyone onbth forums.  There might be a thread about how to do transactions as safe as possible.

That's for a post, not a thread.

You are able to delete a thread.  But like I said, I think only for a certain period.

Eta - if you don't believe me, try it.   ;)

Interesting. It gave me an error a while back when I needed to delete a thread. And that was immediately after I created it and there were no additional posts on that thread.

I remember @centro having the same issue.

Either way after all the interest it wouldn't be right to delete the thread. Had you just messaged a mod that would be one thing but you did post it publicly and there is what to be learned here.
