Trip Reports:
@Yehuda
When crossing to Taba:
Bring a pen.
If you have luggage israel might make you pay the 106 shekel exit fee. You can receive a refund on your way out if you save the stub and show your hilton reservation.
When leaving egypt you need an exit stamp and (currently) they give you those in the arrivals hall.
The hilton is usually cheap or 5,000 hilton points.
Everyone knows your jewish.
The casinos use USD and have exchange places in them.
You can also use visa/mc for a 2% fee.(purchase, not CA)

Nah, just stayed at the hilton and went to both casinos. Btw it's cheaper to book some of the eilat water activities in Taba. The dolphin dive was about 20$ cheaper. What else is there to do there?

Another thing that must be done Is to legalize gambling in Eilat, at least for tourists, in order to compete with other popular destinations.

if thats your focus, the club hotel eilat has some basic "deluxe" suites and 2br suites with a jacuzzi on balcony, back in the day you were able to call and talk to a manager to bargain them to $200 a night pretty easily if not a busy time (need to call). http://www.clubhotels-israel.com/club-hotel-eilat-accommodation
place is basically a 3 star with a feel like a cruise ship, but 7 pools so always somewhere u can get away from the polish women doing calisthenics (though only a few are heated). pools are also pretty easily accessible at night iirc. also close to the mall with a rabbanut mehadrin eilat hechsher, though i think that may not be good enough for some :).

Not sure I want a cruise ship feel. Any other options?

if u take the 90 and have kids stop on the way first for ice cream at any basic rest stop, and then down towards the end at the zoo stop (http://www.attractions-in-israel.com/negev/negev-miscellaneous/101st-kilometer-%E2%80%93-restaurants-and-zoo-101-kilometers-from-eilat/), small zoo with a petting area kids will like (even a tiger, but no petting). Try not to buy gas until u get into eilat, as its considerably cheaper there.
If u go the longer way through mizpe ramon lots of other stuff to do (see TRs) but i never did it.

+ 1, good place for a stop with kids,
Didn't they have a fire there a couple of years back, you sure they still have a zoo?

Anyone know of any good options for a hotel and Shabbos meals for this Shabbos 03/18-19 in Eilat? The Hilton, and CP are sold out (even for elite members), and pretty much all of the good hotels it seems are either sold out as well, or insanely expensive. It's tough because I really need a place to stay in Eilat this Shabbos, as I really want to be in Petra on Friday morning.

I've flown with them one way. It was approx 140 ₪ so I guess that's roughly 35$

I've flown AK, but I bought it as a package with a hotel, so I'm not sure of the exact price.
