My rule when I go with family. If I start or end at TLV i fly. I got 79 shekel with arkia/isra air, 99 shekel also not hard to find...
If i start/end in jerusalem i prefer driving, as its less time. takes me less then 3 hours and i dont have to shlep with family through airport.
If I fly its: loading car in jerusalem, unloading in TLV, shuttle from rental to terminal, loading on luggage cart, security, check in, security and eilat loading on luggage cart, finding cab.... a lot of hassle and doesnt save time

But of course. >:D

The guy driving was a trained ambulance driver, with years of experience.

well, if youre the passenger, it makes for a very uncomfortable drive with all the turns

Have done it a few times, Driving by day has worked best, never had traffic , and its a nice easy drive with no temptations of rushing through the curvy  roads

Anyone have info on dolphin viewing, scuba diving, or jetskiing in Eilat? Places to go etc.

Here for a day and looking for attractions.

Thanks.

the dolphin reef was the best attraction for our kids in Eilat (they touched a dolphin that swam right up at feeding time http://www.dolphinreef.co.il/), and scuba diving is amazing and cheap (if u are not licensed and never did it, u should do it in eilat b/c its easy and cheap without certification). there is a place right next to le meridien that rents out banana boats/jetskis etc. very nice people.

enjoy!

when i went there with my wife and kids, we made a whole game whenever we passed signs that said Dangrous Curves (and thats how i now refer to my bashert  ;D)

we went during day too on the east side highway (i think it is 6, past the dead sea) and it took less than 4 hours each way with kid ice cream stops.

Ended up using "lucky divers" for scuba which was simply amazing and only 180 NIS which I believe is a really nice price. They wanted 100 NIS to take a picture of us underwater which I later found out is less than the competition charges - I turned it down. I think I regret that.

Will try to do a full trip report soon (including my stay in Park Hyatt in Paris which is where I am posting from - I am in a junior suite and I have to say I am severly underwhelmed).

People haven't been whelmed by the php in several years already

I'm sorry to say that I fear my writing about it and the GHK did damage to both :(

::)

Or how abusive we can be as customers to the point that policy changes are inevitable.

Not unlike how stores have to make special return policies in NYC.

It's a fine city hotel, but service has gone downhill.

I prefer the Intercontinental Le Grand. Meanwhile I only stayed at the PHP one night so might not be worth much.

What is the consensus around here on the nicest hotel in Eilat?
Do people prefer Royal Beach /Queens of Sheeba/Dan?
