The website says SQ will give me 100%, I don't have any SQ miles yet, does it make sense to get SQ and not United?

Check the link in the wiki but the best seems AS/VS at 50%.

Have you checked the link in the wiki?

Looks like only TK awards miles for W class and also only at 25%

Yes. There were many other partners below not on the list.

SQ, NH, DL (couple others too) each earn 50%, depends which one you'd rather have points with.

VS for class O isn't showing on http://www.wheretocredit.com/virgin-atlantic/o, so I assumed it isn't eligible, but perhaps it really earns 100% VS like does regular economy. I guess you can ask them about it.

IP have started flying twice monthly round trip between JFK to BUF. I can either fly UA, B6, or DL. What does the field suggest in terms of crediting miles and/or achieving status?
