The chain makes its money through royalties. The hotel has to respect the special rates if they want to remain in the chain. They very much do lose money on some transactions.

Baloney.
Hotels never lose money by when they a room is occupied.  That's why priceline exists.
The incremental cost is what?  A bar of soap and shampoo?

I think I am going to chicken out. Jewish side here I come.

For future reference my friend said it may not be possible to cross into Jordan from the boarder crossing by the dead sea as it practically operates as a one way entry into Israel. As in it is very difficult to leave because there is only one line for everyone and the Jordanian cause huge problems for the Palestinians.

if youre referring to the allenby crossing, its a huge pita. you need to arrange for a visa in tel aviv before you cross

And not for many other countries. The problem is your in the same line as everyone else and the Jordanians don't like many of the people that attempt to cross the boarder.

i think youre mistaken. im pretty sure at allenby they dont issue visas at the crossing even for us passports. (unlike arava)
