Flew UA J JFK-LAX. Seemed pretty old and outdated to me, except the IFE was relatively modern. CMIIW do they have an old fleet and a new fleet?

gonna be on these 2 flights in a couple weeks with wife:
thai BKK-BRU class I - 777-300 - buss - got 2 mid seats next to each other - 16 E/F


united BRU-EWR class O - 777-200 - first - got 1 C/H, should i switch to 2 C/H instead


suggestions from the experts on seat change and how good these offering are
