Have you flown both?
Of course. Otherwise I wouldn't share my opinion.

F is still F. You get a small mini quite cabin, and at least MY flight crew was outstanding. I slept very well on BA. TBH even better than on SQ R (maybe I was not tired enough with SQ, but I didn't find the bad THAT comfortable.)

Regarding privacy I guess we have different definition on what privacy is... BA felt really private like a mini suite. I don't see where SQ J is "private"

Also, you wanna mark off BA from the list of F cabins, especially before the AA devaluation is going into affect. Again, I know people like making fun from BA F but based on my experience I disagree. Im not saying that it is SQ/LH F but its definitely worth to give it a shot.
You can say what you think when you think what you say.

I haven't flown BA F, but SQ J is decently private, especially if you get a bulk head seat.

SQ J is way better value than BA F. +1 to D93, never flew BA F but SQ J bulkhead is more private... Also the service is amazing vs BA.. I have heard plenty of "I cant believe it" stories regarding BA flight attendants..

Haven't flown either yet, But the front seats on BA F 747 (1/2 A/K) look very private to me.

F is F. True story. Setting aside "value," BA F is going to better than SQ J. No matter how good the SQ FAs are, they simply cannot provide the same level of service to a cabin of 60 that the BA F FAs can to a cabin of 14.

And 1A/K are a great experience in the nose. All of that isn't to mention the BA F lounge which is going to trump whatever you get with SQ J.

Have you ever flown BA F?

The BA Concord lounge in LHR was less impressive than the LH business lounge in FRA.

I've flown BA F seat 1K and found it to be nothing special,  underwhelming

Again, have you flown both?

I flew BA F 744 a couple of months after SQ J, and I was disappointed on every level.

The seat was old
The entertainment system was old
The screen was old
The FA's were not comparableto SQ J FA's
The BA F bed was nothing like the SQ J bed/Pillow
SQ J is more private compared to BA 744 F
SQ J seat is much wider and gives you alot more space

I can't think of any advantage the BA 744 F has over SQ J

ETC.....

ETA:

Hard Product (Business Class)(from what I can remember):

  • CX J on 777
  • LX J on A333
  • CA J on A330
  • TK J on A330
  • UA J on 757
  • UA J on 767
  • LH J on A380
  • QR J on A333
  • UA J on 777
  • EY J on A321
  • QR J on A321
  • JL J on 737
  • DL J on MD80
  • UA J on 737
  • AA J on 737

Guess not.

When you fly SQ J let me know

Yup! I kept on looking on that couple enjoying their honeymoon in those seats. Its closer to each other than LH 1A/K which makes its even more suitable for couples.

Hershel, AJK didn't say he flew SQ J (although im sure he looked at it when he flew R) all he said is that F is F period. Lucky and others say the same. You Can not compare the atmosphere in a cabin with 14 seats to a cabin with 60 seats.

Also, you just seem to go with the flow who put BA F on a lower level than other carries like LH/CX etc, I am in the same boat with you but you're just taking it too far. I mean to say that the LH business lounge is better than the concord room is non sense. Again, of course BA F lounge is less impressive than the LH FCL but to say that LH business lounge is better??... You can not compare J to F. Do they serve Glefiddich 25 in the LH business lounge? Do they serve blue label? Do they have a free restaurant?

Agree. And LH J lounge don't have an Elemis spa.

BA F ain't better than SQ R, but we're talking about J. If the plane was flying the same route tomorrow, I'd pick BA F over SQ J every time.

For those that are all into the booze, i can't argue that F will get you the more expensive stuff, I'm OK with the "Second class" booze when flying, and won't make my decision based on the type of booze served.

Regarding the difference in lounges, the concord room is smaller and more crowded than LH business class in FRA,  i found LH to be far more relaxing with tge abundance of space

I don't know if you misread my post but we're going in circles, I didn't only say booze, it was the WHOLE experience. The free restaurant, the spa and the F service. Again, not sure about your experience but IME the concord room was not crowded at all. I mean how can a big F lounge be "crowded"?

Yes, the LH business lounge was last time I was there crazy crowded. I think we're done here. You get the points. No one argues that SQ J is probably the best business class product in the market. But it is not F.

I only flew SQ J on the A345 in a bulkhead and had the whole rear cabin to myself, but it was heaven for 19 hours.
Better than most F classes without a doubt.

Soft and hard products were awesome.

Then again I flew SQ Y and had a row of 5 seats. Food and soft product were some of the best I ever had, was way better than most J cabins :D

BA soft product is a notoriously mixed bag. Though F is F, this is true. But why isn't BAs hefty YQ a factor here?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Just sent 3 J guys in VS Premium(The only avail option at the time), they were pleasantly surprised with the experience. They're returning BA 318 LCY - JFK via Shannon.

BA 747-400 in F JFK-LHR or SQ A380 in J JFK-FRA?

Why is BA 318 JFK - LCY not part of the discussion? Flying into quiet LCY vs busy LHR should be something to consider, plus the proximity to the city in crazy London traffic...

No lounge, smaller plane.

You found award availability on the jfk-lcy route?

cousin of mine flew BA F & requested a plastic cup instead of a glass. They said we dont serve like this here in F. If you want you can go yourself to Y & ask a FA for a plastic cup. Talk about disgusting service..
