I wouldn't hesitate to fly LAX-HNL in Y.
Some people here are too spoiled.  Not worth spending 37.5K for some silly domestic F when Y is 12.5K.

It all depends on how many miles you have. I have 1.5MM laying around...... I don't think that in 50 years from now they will have any value, therefor I would redeem them on anything that make a bit sense. (not for standard award etc)

You think it takes 50 years to burn 1.5MM??

I just burned 550K for a trip for us next month.

Did someone hack your account?  :P

When I go to MIA I have a hard time settling for Y. When a flight is more then 4.5 hours I'd redeem for J.

Well, my father just flew LGA-ATL in F on a paid ticket, long story short, they did not have a seat for him in F and he seat in Y. He whats app'd me the entire flight how terrible it is....
I have a hard time sitting for more than 1.5 hours at a time, so since I end up standing anyway for a good portion of the flight I wouldn't even consider J or F domestically unless it's from HNL-EWR.
I wouldn't hesitate to fly LAX-HNL in Y.

Really depends on your travel patterns. Some here go can go through 500k like water. So not always worth it to spend the extra 15-30k extra for that J or F seat.

Please don't ask if someone hacked my account;)

Why not just go X? It's only 5.5 hours?
Isn't that just about the same as NYC-LAX? And yet no one thought it was weird to want J/F there...

You think it takes 50 years to burn 1.5MM??
I wish I knew where the quote was, but I believe it was last week that we found out that ilherman rarely flies.

I wouldn't hesitate to fly LAX-HNL in Y.

But you would look for F on NYC-LAX?

The hard product from NYC-LAX is a lot nicer than LAX-HNL, but you're right I wouldn't consider J or F to NYC either.

Product, product, product.
Pay for a good product (JFK-LAX) not a lousy one (LAX-HNL)

Now that explains the difference between me and you guys. I fly just about 5 times a year, and with the amount of miles I have I wouldn't think twice when redeeming J/F.

I am not done yet with AOR.  :)

Meir..... You???!!! ;)
I knew you would come after me for that one.

Anyways, when traveling 10-15 hours and your getting a lie flat seat, lounge access etc then it's usually worth it, but for domestic F I would pay an extra 10k tops for a 5.5 hour flight.

5x a year with even a small family does serious damage to mileage balances...

You're missing the point. I don't think twice for when redeeming for a long haul J/F intl flight or a nice TCON product, but for a lousy domestic F come on.

I understand. But for me its worth even when redeeming for domestic F.

BTW just saw, you can redeem 40K AZ miles for DL F domestically RT.

Depends on your balances.

I do 5+ trips a year with a small family and I still manage to earn more then I burn.

By the time I get to the bottom of my pile mileage will not be worth that much anymore.
