Which 2 seats would be best for a couple on VS J A333? (if any  ;) )
Don't recall which plane I flew on but it didn't really matter which seats, you can't really talk to each other without getting up. But they do serve you your meals together

What to choose?

CX J HKG-JFK direct

Or

CX F/LH F connecting in FRA

Note:
Done LH F twice in the past, and by the time of travel I'll also have CX F crossed off the bucket list.

So first time excitement is not into consideration. Just a convenience question.

Nonstop CX J. No question.

Please read again, no CX F direct available.

Either CX J direct or CX F>LH F.
Did you check if CX F is available on Qantas.com directly from CX or you just checked AA/BA?

Yes. Also bookable with BA albeit with some hacking.

Hacking?

Will that process remain secret? Or can you elaborate

This is probably what he meant.
In order to talk you have to really bend over, but the meals can be done together, as seen in picture below.

I believe in some business class seats one person can sit on the leg rest (ottomon) and one on the seat to have the meal together.

ETA: Look at the picture on this page of the two people sitting facing each other - http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/bb/en/the-virgin-experience/upperclass/upper-class-suite.html

Identical to ba.com availability.

Both QF and CX?
Either way, it'll probably open up later on.

Not available. But either way I don't have aeroplan miles.
I didn't realize that AC only charges extra fees on its own metal.
