I would say more comfort (even a little) for 9 hours is worth more than a view for 10 minutes.

HNL isn't that pretty from the air anyway,  plus you'd be flying out to OGG later on. You could see the view then.

Not sure that's always the case. We were seated on the right side of the plane EWR-HNL and we had Oahu to our right while descending.

SIN<>DXB is flown by both the 777 and the A388.

That's a toughie indeed, but I'd probably do EK if I hadn't flown either before.
