Only 6 first class seats on Cathay as opposed to 14 on Qantas.
It's a world of difference.

Even better when you have the entire 4 side or 2 side to yourself

99% of people say CX F seat and bed is better. Really in a league of its own as far as comfort.
Doesn't have fawning FAs, showers, doors, BYOK, etc.
But in the end of the day it's about the seat and bed comfort IMHO. Great PJs round out the product.

That's because of your Trump sizes feet and hands.
I'll take a big wide seat/bed with cozy bedding and a nice pillow and blanket any day.
And I'll splurge for that to arrive at the destination and back home feeling like a human being and ready to hit the road.

When the bed is too narrow, the seat doesn't recline, or whatnot all of that goes out the window.

CX F was better then my sleep on the ground
IF JFK-YVR is merely a tease, the reverse route is even worse, I couldnt sleep because they kept me up to serve the inedible Omnitzkys meal

EY F A380 seat does not recline much but - as can be seen and read in my TR - gave me no issues at all and still was a very comfortable seat where I could easily put up my feet and lie down whenever I wanted.
