What is better JFK-LHR-TLV VS upper class
Or JFK-ZRH-TLV Swiss business?

That's a tough one. If flying myself, I'd choose VS for the guarantee of lie flat both legs. LX occasionally changes product.

With family, LX seats are more family friendly and a longer long-haul may be advantageous.

LX has more privacy, although not the most private.
VS is more spacious, and has better food and kosher wine.

Great is an overstatement IMO. And as a tall guy, the throne seat is kind of blah.

Eh, probably not better than VS. I'd go with VS over LX for sure if it were me.

The length of flight and times also make a difference to me if i want to sleep.
I think LX is comfy and havent had issue- only 6"1 though
Also the movenpick ice cream in the lounge is the deal-breaker

Agree rather have 1 short and 1 long then 2 medium length flights.

It all depends on flight timing, the late night LX flight into TLV isn't great timing.

VS has great service and decent seats, but the configuration of Biz is terrible IMO.

Just flew LO 788 J for the first time, and most say, I am quite impressed. It looks ridiculous, but as someone who doesn't care much for privacy inflight, it was great. Stepping over someone to get in and out kind of sucks, but the seat is extremely comfortable, more so in flat position, and having just 18 seats in the entire business class makes the service great.
Not that it makes much of a difference, but the KSML was quite solid too.

United 770-300er Polaris. Is 1G and 1D the best for a couple?

1DG and 9DG will have the most legroom, but they also have more noise+light from the galley.
Other odd rows will have less legroom, but will be quieter/darker and are also good couple options.

Ah. I'm not even 6 ft tall so I guess there's no difference for me so I should change it perhaps. This is for a day flight from TLV-EWR, so I don't know if there will be a chance to go to sleep anyways. Do they darken the cabin by the day flight?

It is darkened. If you're not planning on sleeping there's little difference between the seats.

I would try to sleep. The only available odd row by now in the center is row 11. Should I switch it?

Matter of personal preference.
:)

I don't know my preference yet, because I never flew it yet. Oh flew economy so far. Is it typically very noisy, or do they huddle and whisper?
