I find amusing when the baal korreh goes on without pausing for Ki"e-y-l-e-h and the tzibbur looks at each other all thinking is the baar koreh feeling ok? Lol I personally enjoy it, you know it's yom tov when you hear those ki"e-y-l-e-hs.. but to each there own..
You know you're oot when the baal koreh says the word, and the whole place is silent.
Best is when BK knows how to handle it properly. IE an excessively long pause, wait till everyone settles down and finishes doing it, and only then say koeila...
Happened in the shul I davened at, except half the shul knew it was coming, waited a few seconds and said it along with the bk anyway.
Had a Sephardi leining, no כאלה
