How to get the best price on a product?
« on: July 14, 2014, 08:11:01 PM »
Not sure if this belongs here, but was just wondering if someone could help me, if I was looking to buy a certain product, for example a kenmore fridge, how would I go abt finding out where to get it cheapest? Is there any site that would be able to tell what time of yr it normally goes on sale? Is it possible to get alerted when a product you want is on sale?

Consumer Digest or Report (IIRC?) had a listing of exactly that. It included appliances, household goods, clothing, cars, etc by month.

You'll hardly find any discounts on Consumer Reports, but they're well worth it (if you're in need of their advice, of course)

many local libraries have access to all but the most recent couple of months through their website. If not they surely have it in house.

the browser addon PriceBlink will pop up when you're looking at a product on a website, if there is a cheaper price somewhere.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Sometimes an extension is so good that it deserves 2 posts!

But really, I do see the value in knowing that someone else uses the extension and likes it. I'd faster install something that was recommended by 2 people than by 1 person.

In that case, he could have just written +1. What he wrote made it sound like he didn't read the posts above his.

That was exactly my point. I don't know about everyone else, but I always read all the posts until the end before posting, in case someone else beat me to it.

As a matter of fact, I DID read ALL the posts. But for some reason and I HAVE NO IDEA HOW(!!) I missed the post about priceblink, which is why I posted. I'm really tired  ::)

Check slickdeals, then amazon, then froogle.com, then ebay.

If you find your item at BBB or staples orlowes or other stores that often have coupons, that may be the cheapest. Setup alerts on SD so you get alerted for deals you want.
