Flying On A One Way Ticket To Israel
« on: July 16, 2014, 01:48:10 PM »
A friend of mine booked a one way ticket YUL-TLV, they didn't let here board the flight until she booked a return, is this a law or something?

Not a law, but some agents will make you problems. YMMV

So booking a refundable one way for the way back is the way to go?...

Now, how can I know if a ticket is fully refundable?

Also would a hold with AA be enough?

I should just put a flight on hold with AA and print out a copy of the reservation, and show it to the agent? Is that enough, or will they check if I have a actual valid ticket?

Printout is enough. Or sometimes just showing on you phone

K, so it does not even have to be on hold anymore by time of traveling, right?

This sounds wired, why should it ever be a problem?

Hmmm, it says that it's on hold, wouldn't that make problems?

Experience: To Israel was booked thru UA and they warned me that "Israel" would want to see a departure ticket (which I had booked thru AA). No one asked any questions other than the regular passport control - how long you staying for?

My experience in the other direction (which i would think would be worse) came in with someone on a visa, no return flight booked and no one said/asked anything at US passport control

Back on the US Air glitch tickets, a gate agent gave me problems for not having a return flight from Toronto and almsot refused to let me check in. After I politely asserted my case, I got on without a problem.
