Square Credit Card Processing
« on: December 02, 2010, 02:00:47 PM »
Square allows you to except credit card fees with your phone and the fees aren't too bad at 2.7% + 15 cents.

But always need to be wary of new companies...
Has anyone used it?
What's their service like?

I don't actually know anything about them, but i saw their app for iphones and ipads. Most of the reviews were very positive. However, the two most recent reviews were negative and warning of some sort of scam. Could be a temporary problem with the company, but definitely something to look into.

Hope this helps you.

Where'd you see reviews that say it's a scam? It was founded by the guy who founded Twitter.

In the beginning they had problems with fraud/abuse, but I think all those issues were sorted out.

I use Square and had no problems. Like someone said earlier, there were some issues when they founded about how to deal with chargebacks, and the fact that so many people signed up right away, but now everything was sorted out.

Seems like a decent idea to rack up miles considering you can purchase VISA gift cards with 3% cashback and then run them through this service thus negating the casback but gaining the miles or CC bonus. How much do you think I could run through this before they shut down my account ;-)

You'd also be running all kinds of other (albeit unlikely) risks, such as raising flags with the IRS, being investigated for money laundering, who knows...

Hi mancunian,

Starting today, Square has dropped the 15˘ fixed fee on payments you accept using your Square card reader. Now you’ll simply pay 2.75% per transaction, no matter what you sell.

This way you're paying 15 cents a transaction, wouldn't it be better to just go to a gas station and drip some gas?
