Whats the work around to book a ow flight with ana ? (Am I aloud to ask this straight out ?! )
+1
Dying to know... (feel free to pm )
If it goes by distance and multi city works I guess you can do ewr-tlv-ath but then there are fuel surcharges.
What's ua's shortest flight from tlv?

UA's shortest (and only) flight from TLV is TLV-EWR.

But actually there is no real workaround. Even in a parallel universe where NH allowed OW awards, a OW from EWR-TLV would cost 38/63/90k (being in the 4-7k miles zone).  A longer itinerary would get better value (e.g. EWR-TLV-EWR-XXX - 11-14k miles which costs only 60/90/140k)

Yes but ewr-tlv-ewr is near impossible to find and Ana is a bit** with date/route changes
How about tlv-ewr-xxx?

Like TLV-EWR-ATH would be 55/85/120

Or maybe TLV-EWR-HNL-DFW. Not sure if it's over 14,000 miles though

ANA's rules are the final destination must be in the same country as the departing origin. So, if you want a OW you might want to try something like EWR-TLV CLE-EWR. The "OJ" part should be at the end to make sure you won't lose the reservation if you miss that segment. Although not a great deal for a OW to israel, you could mix in separate flight segments at much later dates at no addl cost if you have leeway in the distance group your reservation is in (i.e 11k-13k). Keep in mind ANA isn't the best with date changes. To my knowledge they allow changes if there are no airline or routing changes, but otherwise require you to cancel and rebook.

I believe the return has to be an international flight so it would have to be Montreal-ewr or Mexico City- Phoenix as in dans example

Possibly. I usually do CDG-LHR or something similar depending on where I originate :)

I'm also confused about booking trips on ANA.  I like that it costs less miles (60K) to fly instead of flying via United directly (85K).

In my case I'd like to book TLV-NYC-TLV but am hesitant to move the miles to ANA before I understand how this works.  I understand that I need to find a saver award on the dates I'd like to travel.  My questions, must the flight be non-stop?  What if the flight is not by "United" but is actually run by Turkish Air or some other airline.  Since they are partners with United and United is partners with ANA is it doable?

It's doable but the mileage used to calculate the rate will be higher. Many connections will work for no addl mileage. Search the ANA site and see for yourself.

Def doable and I wouldn't be worried about additional miles... However on all other airlines ANA charges yq which can get ridiculous ($500+)

So if the flight is run by Turkish Air (with a stop in Istanbul) then it can still be booked via ANA with no YQ?

IIRC, there is little YQ on TK.
You can say what you think when you think what you say.

IIRC, there is little YQ on TK.
But to clarify there will be yq, unless it is a flight operated by UA.
However other airlines are worth checking as the yq can range. (This van be done in Ita matrix as shown below)
Random date checked in ita matrix for tk and yq is about 200...
