I will try to give a rundown of my experience at fireside.
It's in evergreen shopping center so it is a little weird for that kind of upscale place to be in a shopping mall. The ambience was really nice once you are inside, though. It's a very modern and new look. Service was great, though there is mandatory 18% gratuity which I hate (it should be based on performance). So now on to the food. We ordered beer battered chicken fingers ($13) and pulled brisket nachos ($14) for appetizers. The chicken fingers where amazing 10/10, the best I have ever tasted. It also comes with 4 dipping sauces, which is nice. The nachos were cool to try, very solid not amazing though 7/10. For mains we got the cured eye of the rib fillet steak($39), and short ribs($45).The steak was cooked and seasoned really well. It's a very tender cut which is what I enjoy. It wasn't mike's but it was deffinetly close 9/10. The short ribs were really good as well. Again, not "mikes melt in your mouth quality", but very solid. The only issue was this really strong heavy sauce they make it with, I wasn't crazy about the taste of the sauce 6/10. All in all I enjoyed, and would go there again. My total was $140 without drinks (free filtered water), and without deserts. You can go elsewhere and pay less in the city, but you can't beat the convenience.

What's the best bus/train to Monsey from the city? Where does it stop? (The plan is LGA-city, hit up Noi Due, train/bus to Monsey for a vort, Monsey-Reserve Cut-LGA.)

Oh and one last thought on fireside. They have these great rolls shaped like a crossant. They are served with a dipping sauce. Both are really good.

They have the opposite sched for Sunday (1pm leaving Monsey/5pm leaving NYC -- I need the reverse). Any other suggestions?

There's public transportation. Don't know specifics. I think you pick up at port authority and switch over somewhere in nj.
