Now that Capital One is closing their Monsey branch any recommendations for a bank in the area that is about as empty as Capital one used to be (saved a lot of time...) and offers free checking ?

I've been using Wells Fargo. They have 2 locations 1 on the 59 near Remson and 1 on the 59 down near exit 14 on the 87. Never had a problem with lines.

I'm very happy with TD in a different location. Great accounts and decent/pleasant service. IDK about in Monsey.

I use TD as well but no real local locations. I use the 1 off exit 172 of the GSP in Montvale NJ. No lines there either.

I switched from WF. They were very busy trying to sell people new products, but not taking care of their current customers. They once tried to sell s/t to me, and I told them that maybe if they would take better care of us instead of selling so much, I would actually buy... Anyway I'm glad I switched. Incidentally, the average age of the tellers is about 40 years younger at TD. It felt like switching from fax to email. ;)

They got busted recently for that. Now would be the best time to open there as they are cleaning out old problems.

I don't think so. There are very entrenched systemic problems there. I don't think we've heard the end of it yet...
