I dont get it, Why do u need insurance? Wont the airlines give back full refunds for all that there ticket got canceled?

True. But what if flights are still operating and the passenger feels it's unsafe to travel.

Maybe - or maybe they will give you a credit to push off your ticket - or maybe they will push off your ticket and you'd rather fly home sooner on another airline.

What I see as a bigger issue is if someone wants to rebook on El Al, but there are no seats.

If you call them now and sign up it won't matter because the situation is already happening, it's kind of like calling to have car insurance right after you had a car accident.
