best no AF citi card to build history with company?
« on: July 26, 2014, 08:19:13 AM »
So miraculously I met the citi AA 10k limit in first billing cycle, my 100k miles posted (still no A/F - and it's been over 3 months!!! and I got the 200$ statement credit!)

When the A/F posts I'd like to cancel the card, but considering it's my first and only card with citi, i'd like to have another CC with them open, just so I can build credit history, and they won't slam me for opening , getting bonus and closing the citi AA 100k. I was thinking something along the lines of one of those ThankYou cards... (PS my Saba told me he has a good chunk of TY point he wanted to give me, but I believe my conclusion after looking into that was that I couldn't capture the TY points if I didn't have an account myself). Let me know!

TIA!  8)

so I will add that I notice there is a no A/F TYP card (preferred) and a 125$ A/F (waived for first year) TYP card (premier). Considering I fly to Europe with cash flights from Israel, I could def use these TYP to book my next flight.

Question is:
1. Can I open BOTH preferred and premier? Since my main goal is to build credit history, it's prudent for me to open the no A/F card, and keep for a long time. HOWEVER, after looking at the premier, it has a much bigger bonus, so if I'm going for getting some TYP mine as well go all out right?!  ;D
If I can open both I will probably open both, or at least open no A/F now and maybe the premier one down the road....

Yes.
Once you have it open, call Thank You and have them combine the Thank You accounts (not the credit card accounts) so that the points from both cards are pooled together. Then you can use the points earned from either card to book flights at a value of $0.0125 per point or you can transfer points to Hilton or airlines.
