I agree with the fan guys. I had the same problem. Unscrewed the case, pulled out the whole unit (not difficult). Checked the fan and I saw there were thin branches growing on it and wrapping around it. Came from outside up the wall. Anyway, cut out all of that, put it back in, and it worked perfectly. Don't give up on that possibility. Believe it or not it was the nice folks from Towne Appliance in Lakewood that gave me the idea. I wanted to buy a new one and they said try this first!

It's working!!! (almost completely) b"h!

Turned it on after Shabbos and then fan was definitely on blowing cold air. Only issue is that it's really loud. Going to let it run for a while and see what happens.
Guessing that whatever was blocking it is now making noise

Don't put it on anymore. You can burn out the motor. Check the fan

Now summer coming up, so this old thread is very helpful to many people. I would like to share some thing here i. e if you don't have any air conditioning repairing knowledge then don't to try to do it yourself because it is very dangerous for you. Last time I tried to repaire AC myself and I lost my AC.  so consult an expert air conditioning repair service provider like allweek airconditioning.

What was the dangerous part and what did you do to make it not work? This would be helpful to others. You must feel this is a very important PSA to create an account for it.

If you're talking about a small window ac I don't think we're talking rocket science here. Usually, with a few screws you can pull out the whole unit and see all the parts, mainly the fan. That is the part that often gets junk in it. First, UNPLUG the unit, of course, or you may end up on a higher floor of your building!

I was hoping not to contribute to this thread...  Unfortunately
I turned on the AC 1st time in season it made a weird noise no air, i turned it off.
I turned it on a few minutes later i heard 'bang' noise and air started blowing but it still makes the weird noise.

Should i turn it on (the lazy way)?
Take it apart?
Or?

If ac is not blowing cold air,  but everything else seems to be working,  is that something fixable?

Happened to me last summer. Called the HVAC guy and hhe put in freon and a sealant. He told me I probably had a leak. Turned it on again this summer and same thing no cold air. I still have a leak but now they need to find it. Hopefully it's a small part that's easily replaceable.

I guess I'll find out. The freon refill was around $75.

Window AC? Is fan on? If not it could just be garbage holding back the fan from turning. Take off cover and check.

Yes, of course.
Assuming central AC
And everyone change your filters and thermostat batteries.
