Do you worry about FR or account closure when buying multiple GCs for MS?

Saw a related question on FT, and since I am not comfortable with FT folks, I dont want to post there. Here is what the thread starter's question was:

 mix prepaid visa in with regular grocery shopping, does it mask the purchase?

if I go to my grocery store and buy groceries along with a visa gift card, does the card company know that I've bought a gift card?

I'm wondering as I just got the Plum card, and only realized once I rec'd the card that gift cards and other "cash alternatives" are exempt from the early pay discount.

Is it bad idea to confirm that one is buying GCs if you are called to confirm transactions? Can we say that I have a trip coming up in a couple of months, and would like to earn some miles? Is that against the terms? I am just getting back in the MS game and want to avoid any problems.

I cant' answer your question, though I cant' imagine it's a good idea to tell any bank that you bought GCs for the points.  What I can say for sure is that this post belongs in an existing thread, probably one of these:

Thanks for the reply and the links. I will just slow down a little and hope for the best. I already did 10K this month. Will close both BB tomorrow (when the payments post and account is clear), and apply for Serve. Then I will have about 2 weeks to do another 10-12K for this month. I am shooting for SW CP and need to do about 62K in next 3-4 months.

I think this is what forums should be. Dont know why FT folks are so snooty (for lack of a better word). Those in the know seem to forget that they were new members too at one time, and not everyone has time to be reading all the threads everytime. One thing I dont get, if you dont want to answer the question, why even reply? May be making someone feel bad helps their ego...

AMEX can, at least sometimes, see what you bought, and they sometimes put it on the statement. It's been mentioned before, but I don't remember where.

Why would you say what you're buying? It's none of their business. Just tell them you authorized the transaction.
