Anyone care to comment on recent experience going over the border from Eilat for one night to Taba to stay at a Taba hotel?  I see there's an Egged bus from the city to the border but what then? Any border fees? How much time does it take to cross the border? How is getting from border to the hotel and back?  Any problems bringing tefilin and a tallis? Any safety issues? Do they give you a new tourist visa when returning to Israel with 90 more days? Any issues crossing at night? Thanks

alot of bucherim cross to play at the casinos there, AFAIK they have hotels just across the border, built for Israelis, which they very much welcome....
but I wasn't there myself.

Its no big deal you just get to the border with your car and park there or take a taxi which should be around 40-70 shekels from hotel zone eilat
border fees are 100 shekels and its only if you have luggage, most of the times it shouldn't take long to enter from Israel to taba as you can probably use the machines but on the return it might take longer, all hotels are within a 5 min walk from the border i would recommend taking Movinpick as its the nicest from the 3 hotels,no problem bringing along tallies and tefillan, no issues crossing at night, about the 90 day visa if you have already overstayed they might make you wait on the return for a while and most probably wont extend the B2

Thanks for all that information - and I take from it that you personally have done this. The question for the visa is not if one has already ovestayed but if very near the end of 3 months - does this start a new 90 day clock or do they consider it as if you never left since you only went to Taba?

99% they won't renew it, they might give you a 30 day visa and you will also wanta be prepared with a fake return ticket or itinerary to show them

Already has a legitimate ticket to leave Israel 5 days later. Problem is that current visa expires in 3 days...and absolutely cannot risk being marked as overstaying B2 because must be back in country later this year for an extended period of time. So only need a few days extension. I guess it's not a sure thing one will get any extension.

if your not a real tourist... and you have been in Israel for a while on B2 visas they might not let you through (from experience ).

up to 6 months stay they usually dont make any problems

Just as a PSA for anyone searching for info about renewing through Taba. I left Israel a few days before my tourist visa expired an came back after a few days in Nueiba with no issues. Adding one data point to the mix.
