I'm not generally one to start threads about people passing, especially actors. But I really loved his movies and he was a part of my childhood.
Very sad news.

Anyone else here a fan?

As strange as it sounds, when I heard the news, the first words that popped into my mind were "Baruch Dayan Ha'emes". He may not have been "fun unzereh", but somehow, I actually felt dismay - not something I can say about most actors.

Pretty sure he had a heart condition for a long time. He actually joked about it quite often. This is reported to be a suicide though...

I think they've spoken in the past about him battling depression.

It all started with Aladdin for me.
Hook is one of my favorite films ever. Mrs Doubtfire,
Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets society, patch Adams..... List goes on and on.

According to his publicist he had been battling deep depression lately & he recently entered rehab.

I usually couldn't care less about Hollywood gossip, but I actually felt a little sad. IMO he was one of the most talented artists to ever live. One movie I liked a lot and he wasn't that famous for was the fisher king.

There are challenges that come with poverty and struggle, and there are challenges that come with fame and fortune.

The world envies the latter type, but it appears that once you have it all, there is really nothing left to look forward to.

Either way, he was a genuinely good hearted man.

no question he was a king of comedic movies and part of anyone in that generation's childhood, and had singular energy, but for all intents and purposes the guy was also a dirty and religiously offensive comedian.
