Kosher In Nova Scotia (Yarmouth)
« on: August 14, 2014, 01:50:38 PM »
We're planning a trip on the Nova Star ship to Yarmuth, Nova Scotia. The ship officially does not allow food, but even if we sneak in something kosher, we have to go through customs on the other side.

So, we can't take food with us all the way to the destination, and Yarmuth doesn't really have a Jewish community (closest one, Halifax, appears to be hours of driving away). Is it safe to assume that supermarkets there will have basic food with the same generic hashgochas found elsewhere (bread, tuna fish, peanut butter, etc)? I know Canada is another country, but I'm under the impression it is very similar in that regard to travelling around the US. I know travelling through Europe can be a challenge, as even things we take for granted to be kosher here are very difficult to find there... I've never been to Canada outside of Jewish populated areas (Toronto, Montreal, etc). Are we in for a rude awakening?

Please help, we don't want to starve! :)
