Was just in Kosher West today (West Gate Plaza - Lakewood) and they are giving out free donuts for Chanukah!!
I thought by now you had enough already
So what are you guys doing?Taking turns around the clock?Every 30 mins another member of the family goes there?
The rule is per person per day, no matter who picks it up. Westgate alone has close to 750 FAMILIES, and if you average 4 kids (its prob more) thats almost 5000 people...
Assuming everyone comes in every day to get free doughnuts.
and the owner is even encouraging it!
Of course. Get a free doughnut and spend an average of $10. With an 100% margin, he's making money and building goodwill at the same time
So cynical... There's no purchase necesary, and you can send a kid in without any money to pick them up & it's totally ok. there's no way an average of $10 is spent per donut, you're just speculating incorrectly..
I'm just taking the other extreme, you're speculating too, just trying to get balance here.
not really, as i posted previously, they advertised that last year they gave out 24,000 and want to do more this year.according to you that would mean a quarter of a million dollars in sales just on channuka last year.
They're not doing it out of the goodness of their heart.Obviously:-It draws people into the store.-It creates goodwill for the store.-It generates free advertising for the store. There's nothing cynical about that. It's just smart business. Same reason AMEX is giving away free money. They made a business decision that this is a wise way to spend $7.5M on marketing and free advertising for their brand.
All true. but assuming 10 dollars per free donut is a stretch.
