It was indeed. No return yet.. #d93style
On Hold. Can route back in J on QR or in Y/Apartments on EY. Total travel time and quality of cabin is decent (particularly routing on QR, considering options generally to the Maldives) QATAR AIRWAYS 704 JFK New York May 23, 201611:15 AM DOH Doha May 24, 201606:50 AM Business 350 QATAR AIRWAYS 674 DOH Doha May 24, 201608:30 AM MLE Male May 24, 201603:15 PM Business 332 Return Option 1:QATAR AIRWAYS 675 MLE Male May 29, 201608:20 PM DOH Doha May 29, 201610:55 PM Business 332 QATAR AIRWAYS 703 DOH Doha May 30, 201602:30 AM JFK New York May 30, 201609:15 AM Business 359 Return Option 2: ETIHAD AIRWAYS 279 MLE Male May 29, 201607:40 PM AUH Abu Dhabi May 29, 201611:00 PM Economy 320 ETIHAD AIRWAYS 103 AUH Abu Dhabi May 30, 201603:20 AM JFK New York May 30, 201609:35 AM First 388
Dude. You book now. You work your butt off to make it work. If, and only if, you are UTCB at or near the time of departure, you pay redeposit fee.
+1000! Eliteflyer please listen to AJK and book those awesome flights! Then start a thread about how you need babysitting in order to actually go on your trip, what you're willing to pay and how you will B"H write a TR if people will help you and you should have numerous babysitting options to make this happen!
Mrs Eliteflyer will be absolutely thrilled with this plan I'm sure. Situating two 2.5 year olds for a week and jetting off to the other side of the world is not so simple. Grandparents in YYZ (so would have to drop them off there first) are willing to do it when they get older, but not at this age. I don't think urgency of award chart devaluations or the vagaries of first class products factor heavily in their decision.
That makes sense. Though in that case, what was your הווה אמינא for holding it in the first place?
+100 I would definitely also risk redeposit fees to be able to go on the trip.
more like paying redeposit fees for the privilege of spending 5 months looking at a ticket that will eventually be cancelled. The inlaws did actually consider it before rejecting the idea and it costs nothing to hold it.
As someone who's planning his first trip with a kid I've been learning a lot and can only imagine what traveling with 2.5 YOs must be like.
You can barely be considered planning travel with a kid
True, but barely is the beginning, no?
Barely that either
If your point is there's a lot more than just booking tickets, I'm well aware. Should be a fun, new experience.
I was trying to say that planning a trip for an infant without having one yet or ever traveled with one, no matter how much you research nothing can properly prepare you for it until you actually do it. same thing I think for booking travel with a toddler when all you have in an infant and so on...
Did you offer the grandparents anything? What about offering them their own Mileage trip that you cover later on and maybe they'll reconsider. I just did that and have my MLE trip booked and mine are watching three kids and NOT out of the goodness of their heart!
So you're essentially saying that it will be impossible to find babysitting for your kids.
