Now sounding like there may be a possibility, so I'm thinking to ticket tonight.

LOL. Prescience is the word, I believe.

Question to consider:
-Worth booking in J both ways (to keep it as a single award) rather than F  to have maximum flexibility for rescheduling later into another J or F award without having to reissue the ticket (and maybe avoid award rate increases), particularly if we try to reschedule for the more difficult to find late December time-frame?

The advantage of booking as a single award would be to avoid $150x2.

It's looking now that an upgrade will trigger a reprice, but remains to be conclusively seen.

Can't say that J on either the QR a350 or EY a380 would be something terrible to settle for if I can't add F to the award....

All else being equal, what would you prefer: 7 days in Thailand/Singapore and EY Apartment home or 8 days and EK A380 F home???

Just curious, why that F product over the return in the apartment?

Probably because it's not available.

The itinerary changes again:

CPT-DOH QR J (B787)
DOH-AUH QR F (A320)
AUH-JFK EY F (A380)
JFK-MIA AA F (B738)
MIA-LAX AA F (B772)

With the MIA-LAX leg being a 3 cabin flight, so KSMLs are available. Plus now we don't have to transfer to LGA.

Red is outbound, Blue is return
Well that didn't last long. EY blocked the connection in JFK for ticketing claiming 2 hours were needed and I only had 1.5 hours.  Now we have:

CPT-DOH QR J (B787)
DOH-AUH QR F (A320)
AUH-JFK EY F (A380)
LGA-BOS AA F (E190)
BOS-LAX AA F (B738)

Red is outbound, Blue is return

CPT-DOH QR J (B787)
DOH-AUH QR F (A320)
AUH-JFK EY F (A380)
LGA-BOS AA F (E190)
BOS-LAX AA F (B738)

Red is outbound, Blue is return

Seems like a more direct routing anyways (unless you wanted to go to Miami). Presumably, you'll be watching for a A321T to open in J or F and grab that instead? Also, I assume that AA will have no issue allowing the connection from JFK to LGA? (The last few reps I spoke with told me this isn't allowed (also on an EY Apts redemption), but I assume with enough HUCA, I'll get the right answer.

The flight via MIA was 1) from JFK, so no need to schelp to LGA) and 2) 3-cabin real F (albeit on an old 772) from MIA to LAX. True, going via BOS is more direct, but an E190 and 772 can hardly be considered nice J, let alone F.

I'm hoping for A321T space to open as you said, and was never given an issue booking -JFK//LGA-.

Now on a further five day hold as a single reservation and was able to grab the J seats on the MLE-AUH leg (though imagine the ghetto upgrade would be more comfortable on this leg if there's a light load in Y)

QATAR AIRWAYS    704    JFK New York    Monday
11:15 AM    DOH Doha    Tuesday
06:50 AM    Business 350

QATAR AIRWAYS    674    DOH Doha    Tuesday
08:30 AM    MLE Male    May 24, 2016
03:15 PM    Business 332

Return Option 1:
QATAR AIRWAYS    675    MLE Male    Sunday
08:20 PM    DOH Doha    Sunday
10:55 PM    Business   332

QATAR AIRWAYS    703    DOH Doha    Monday
02:30 AM    JFK New York    May 30, 2016
09:15 AM    Business 359

Return Option 2:

ETIHAD AIRWAYS    279    MLE Male    Sunday
07:40 PM    AUH Abu Dhabi    Sunday
11:00 PM    Economy Business   320

ETIHAD AIRWAYS    103    AUH Abu Dhabi    Monday
03:20 AM    JFK New York    Monday
09:35 AM    First    388

Now want to add an LGA-YYZ leg to pick up our kids, but getting push back. Still have a few more days to HUCA and lock that in.

I just assumed you did it intentionally so you could try out the EY chauffeur service, though note there is officially "no transfers between respective airport terminals."

Nope. Though at this point it's irrelevant. Will post in a minute.

Well that didn't last long. EY blocked the connection in JFK for ticketing claiming 2 hours were needed and I only had 1.5 hours.  Now we have:

CPT-DOH QR J (B787)
DOH-AUH QR F (A320)
AUH-JFK EY F (A380)
LGA-BOS AA F (E190)
BOS-LAX AA F (B738)
Now I'm really set. After HUCAing a few times (4 to be exact) to AA asking them to change us to a nonstop flight to LAX due to an illegal connection due to EYs flight schedule change, I finally have:

CPT-DOH QR J (B787)
DOH-AUH QR F (A320)
AUH-JFK EY F (A380)
JFK-LAX AA F (A321T)

Red is outbound, Blue is return

AA was kind enough to open up space for us. Now I'm that's an impressive itinerary IMO! Yay!!!
