Not true. With preclearance in AUH, the MCT should not be 2 hours.
That's what the rep said who booked it for me Saturday night. When I called back yesterday to see why it still hadn't ticketed they said a 2 hour MCT is necessary even if there is no need for customs. The reason I was confused was because of the two parts of the screenshot below.

What was the schedule change?
EY changed the flight from 02:50-9:00 to 03:20-09-35, so it caused the MCT to be under 2 hours. Even if the MCT is not true, it worked in my favor.  :D

The EY flights should arrive as a domestic flight and should be subject to the one-hour D/D connection, CMIIW.

While I selected the wrong box on top, what does the box on the bottom mean? I agree, it should arrive as domestic, but now that I have a non-stop flight it's not the end of the world waiting an extra 1.5 hours. Also FWIW, each of the 4 times I spoke to AA I asked about the earlier flight and all 4 times they said the 2 hour thing, including the agent who ended up booking us.

FRA-EWR LH F
MUC-JFK LH F

Seems that FRA-JFK for next week just ain't opening up currently (even though the entire cabin is still open)  and I'm trying to put together Plan B.
I live a 15 min drive from JFK and would very much prefer landing there but am willing to settle for a -close to- 2 hour commute if the consensus is that FCT is that much better and worth the commute from EWR.
What does the FCT get you? A ride to the plane in a car? True, it's cool, but worth 2 hours? Also how long would you have there? Enough time to shower? Use a nap room? Would you just go to get a drink, or maybe to say you've been there?

Would have around 3 hours to spend in FCT. Get a snack, some drinks, shower, Cigar room and get driven to the plane. Its the best LH has to offer in terms of ground service.  All the things FCT is known for. But I don't know how much better it is then MUC considering that it would be a 2 hour shlep home instead of a 15 min drive from JFK.

I think it's a lot harder to decide if you really appreciate those things. For me, the food (even a KSML) would be meat and inedible, I don't drink or smoke, and don't feel the need just to shower if I'm only coming from VIE and could have showered there before leaving. For me the only cool think is the car to plane transfer, which is not worth a 2 hours commute, even if there's no traffic (public transit) and especially if there is (driving).

OTOH, Assuming LH F isn't something you'd be flying anytime soon, and assuming it's the whole experience what matters (which it sounds like it is for you), I'd go for it. The day after you arrive home you won't even be thinking about the 2 hours. It's a small price to pay in that case.

Sorry if I'm confusing you.

So happy that routing worked out for you, Yehoshua! Great job getting them to open up the space. Even I approve of your connections/routing! :P

I would prefer to skip DOH, but I also give a p'tur for LAX ppl because there are less routing options than JFK, so I allow them 1 more connection.  ;D

Technically you can fly DOH-LAX, making it 1 connection, but that's QR 777 J which is 2-2-2. If you'd skip DOH the only way to get to AUH from CPT would be via JNB, so you wouldn't be saving a stop anyway.

Just got off the phone with AC. While they were not willing to manually request FRA-JFK they were willing to book me onto a married segment (VIE-FRA-JFK Biz) to then remove the 2nd part of it and add FRA-EWR to it as VIE-FRA stand alone was not available for a time in which I could have made FRA-EWR.

I thought you were trying to fly F, not J?

VIE-FRA-JFK was only available as such in J.

He booked it, removed FRA-JFK and added FRA-EWR in F.

Getting picky on the aircraft again, eh? :P

Looks like these exist, that I believe all have flights to LAX:
CPT-AMS on KLM
CPT-FRA on DE (Condor), which seems to take LH miles
CPT-IST on TK
CPT-LHR on BA I'll patur you bc of YQ
CPT-MUC on LH
CPT-CDG on AF
CPT-ZRH on LX
And, of course, the SA options, but we've already established that their J product leaves much to desire.

True, there are other 1 stop options CPT-LAX, but I thought even you'd keep the AUH-JFK leg. If that case you're more limited.

If I was ending my journey in JFK, then yes. Can always save EY F for an MLE trip.
