It's over a Shabbos.

Could fly from LON to AMS on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. Depart AMS on Monday morning.

Traveling with 3 kids, so doubtful. But we'll see. If we do anything it would probably be Kens or Milts.

"High-speed trains take as little as 4 hours 38 minutes from central London to central Amsterdam, compared to around 4 hours of hassle by air. Take Eurostar from London to Brussels and change onto a high-speed Thalys train from Brussels to Amsterdam, stress-free & relaxed compared to flying."

I know we dont do busses. But trains?

LCY-AMS is less than one hour.

+1! And they rarely ever have delays. iirc the last time a train was late by a min, it made it to the front page of the news!

Getting to LCY? Getting from AMS? Flight time + check-in time. 6 of this half a dozen of the other and a different experience for the kids. Chunnel.

Depends on where you're staying too.  When i was there and stayed at Andaz, Liverpool station was right there. Easy access to tube and trains.

LCY appears equidistant to the Andaz for example from London S Pancras by cab.
AMS is 20 minutes vs 8 Amsterdam CS from the Andaz there.

So only 12 minutes saved there.

BA says you can arrive at LCY as little as 20 minutes before departure, but even allowing for an hour at the airport vs 20 at the train, you've only saved 52 minutes outside of the actual train vs flight time.

This isnt an accounting questions. Its an experiential question. You're flying plenty on this trip. Mixing it up a bit never hurt anyone. And you get to see French countryside, Belgium and the Netherlands on the ground all in 4 and a half hours, instead of sterile terminal to sterile terminal blah airports.
